Description:
From August 9 - September 19, 2025, the icebreaker Oden carried out an expedition with the Canadian icebreaker CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent to map the seabed in the Arctic Ocean, which took place within the framework of the UNCLOS program (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea). In symbiosis with this, an extensive Early Career Scientist program also took place on board, consisting of the course The Arctic Ocean Climate System.

Dataset organization
--------------------

Data are provided in two sets of files:
 - "Shipdata AO25 2025.zip" - meteorological data (e.g. temperature, humidity and wind) and ship data (e.g. heading, position, roll, pitch). The parameterlist is described in the documentation files "Parameterlist FerryBox AO25 2025.csv" and "Parameterlist FerryBox AO25 2025.pdf"

 - "Ferrybox data AO25 2025.zip" - ferrybox data with measurements of physical, chemical, and biological parameters in seawater while the vessel is in operation. The parameterlist is described in the documentation files "Parameterlist Ferrybox AO25 2025.csv" and "Parameterlist Ferrybox AO25 2025.pdf"

In addittion, "Shiptrack A025 2025.geojson" provides a track of the ship's position every 10 minutes.

Datafile descriptions
----------------------
"Shipdata AO25 2025.zip" contains comma-seperated-variable files with filenames in format "Oden-Allids-2025-08-22.csv" and CRLF endings.

"Ferrybox data AO25 2025.zip" contains tab-seperated-variable files with filenames in format "All_sensors_732302_2025-09-02.txt" and LF endings.

All csv and txt files ISO 8859-1 encoded.

Ferrybox data files have a heading and are structured as follows. Line numbers are given for reference, they are not part of the heading.

1 - $METADATA
2 - $Version 1.1
3 - $Project; FerryBox
4 - $Device; 732302

Reference information

Data Quality:
Erroneous Coordinates in Ferrybox Data - Note that the coordinate fields (latitude/longitude) are invalid during certain intervals, as described in the file "Erroneous Coordinates in FerryBox.txt". This does not assess the quality of other Ferrybox variables.

During certain time intervals, data are missing in the Ferrybox system.
These gaps are mainly caused by ice blockages or insufficient seawater intake during icebreaking operations/heeling.

The affected time intervals are listed below:

2025-08-27 14:59 -- 2025-08-27 15:22 Cleaning
2025-08-31 14:28 -- 2025-08-31 15:25 Water pump fault
2025-09-03 14:59 -- 2025-09-03 15:22 Cleaning

Temporary spikes in pressure and flow values may also occur due to variations in the measurement system during icebreaking.
