BACKGROUND
This survey is part of the International Social Survey Program
(ISSP). The 1995 survey was conducted in 22 countries.
Context of the survey:
Separate postal survey with two reminders by post to all
non-respondents and a telephone interview follow-up on a
sub-sample of remaining non-respondents.
Sample:
A representative sample of the Swedish population 18-76 years.
Sample sixe: 2 000 individuals
Fieldwork:
The fieldwork was conducted by Statistics Sweden, February
1995 to May 1995.
n %
Original sample: 2 000
Emigrated, living in institutions,
no known address 12
Net sample: 1 988 100.0
Responses: (weighted) 1 470 73.9
- by mail 1 130 56.8
- by telephone 340 17.1
Responses: (unweighted) 1 296 65.2
- by mail 1 093 56.8
- by telephone 166 8.4
Non-responses: 692 34.8
- refusals 115 5.8
- no contact 577 29.0
Weighting:
A subsample was drawn among those who had still not responden
after two subsequent reminders. About 50% of them were
selected for telephone interviewing, following the normal
practices of Statistics Sweden. All respondents in the
subsample has accordingly been given the weight 2.05. In order
to keep the representativeness of the sample, all calculations
should be made using the weight.
